Beach Shabbat Delray Beach is one of the Neshamah Institute’s most beloved gatherings of the year, drawing families from across Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and South Florida. Led by Rabbi Amy Rader and Musical Director Sharon Shear, this unique outdoor Evening Shabbat service offers a chance to experience Jewish prayer stripped down to its essence: gratitude, joy, and deep communal connection.
There is a specific kind of spiritual awe that comes naturally when you are standing at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean as the sun begins to set. By removing the walls of a traditional synagogue, we invite the beauty of the Florida coast to become our sanctuary. There is no formality and no dress code – instead, we focus on the ancient prayers, acoustic music, and a welcoming community.
Whether you are a long-time member or a visitor looking for Jewish services in Delray Beach, our Beach Shabbat is open to all. It is a family-friendly environment where children can play in the sand while parents engage in soulful meditation and song.

Where Beach Shabbat Happens
Beach Shabbat is held at the Delray Beach Pavilion, at Atlantic Avenue and A1A (23 South Ocean Blvd, Delray Beach, FL 33483). Street parking is available along A1A, and a valet stand is located directly across from the pavilion at Atlantic Ave and A1A.
What to Expect
The service begins at 6:30 PM and runs about 90 minutes – timed so the closing songs land right as the sun sets over the water. Sharon Shear leads music with the Neshamah choir. Challah is provided. Afterward, we encourage everyone to stay for a picnic dinner on the sand – bring your own meal, and a dessert to share with the group.
A Twice-a-Year Tradition
Beach Shabbat happens twice each year, August and April.
RSVP & Suggested Donation
RSVP is required for hospitality and security planning, walk-ups aren’t accommodated. There is no charge to attend; a suggested donation of $18 per adult / $45 per family helps sustain Neshamah’s programming, but no one is turned away for inability to give.
